OUR DOG WANTS TO BE A VEGETARIAN
Our dog Burban has decided he wants to be a vegetarian. You see, Burban is an 8 year old Lab mix that we rescued in the early months of 2007 at our local Humane Society in Tennessee. He was your normal, rambunctious puppy, who grew to love swimming, hunting lizards and squirrels, and the usual chewing everything in sight. In May of 2009, he suddenly and unexpectedly had a seizure. After a series of veterinarian visits and lots of medication, we finally got his seizures somewhat under control. His medication costs were .50 cents a pill and he had to take 4 a day. In June of 2010, he was chasing a squirrel, slipped and fell and completely tore his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in his right hind leg. We were given 3 options, euthanasia, amputation, or ACL reconstruction($$$). Well, euthanasia was NOT an option, the veterinarian said that amputation was not a good idea because of his size and weight, so we chose the later. After his surgery, physical therapy, and ultrasound treatments, Burban had gone from a 80 pound active Lab to a 105 pound, panting, mound of fat as you can see in this picture.

As I have mentioned in a previous blog, my family had since began to take Zija Nutritional Products. So we started Mr. Burban on a 1/2 pack of Zija a day mixed with his breakfast in August 2014. Within a couple of weeks we noticed, he didn't have the wobbly shakes when he swatted to potty, (YES he swats, even though he's male). He was definitely more energetic and always begging to go outside and play. His dad (my husband) even took him mountain biking and he kept up. WOW! No more lump on the couch. What's funny is...every time he goes out to potty, he is now fertilizing our grass in patches where before he killed it!

As for the seizures....he has only had 1 since starting Smartmix and that was in the same month he started, way back in August 2014. Today his medication has been cut down to 2 pills a day. Remember, he was on 4 a day at .50 a pill! I'm saving a $1.00 a day in medication and no seizures since August of last year. Okay, I have to buy the Smartmix which is close to that cost but no amount of money can replace his well being. He now weighs 81 pounds down from 105 pounds and is as active as he was before his ACL surgery. With hopes, we will be able to take him off his medication with his new dietary change (Smartmix).
